My interest in hunting began at an early age. My father sustained a spinal cord injury during his service in the Vietnam War, and our father-son time was spent together hunting and fishing. My interest soon grew to be my passion, and I am now an avid bowhunter. My current goal is to obtain every animal in the North American 29 with my bow.
I have hunted the high peaks of Alaska and Canada, the Islands of Tiberon and Kodiak to the deserts in Mexico chasing all species of sheep. I’ve been within 10 yards of a grizzly bear with only my bow in hand. I’ve hiked and camped through all kinds of terrain waiting for the perfect shot. Hunting tests a person both physically and mentally and I’ve been challenged by all variety of landscape and animal. You don’t always return from the wilderness with your trophy and that is a part of the game.
I learn new lessons on each hunting adventure, I’ve met some of the best people in my life and I’ve developed a greater sense of who I am through my love of bowhunting.
Joseph “Jody” Tornabene was born and raised in the Green Mountain state of Vermont. As a Green Mountain boy, he developed a love for hunting the outdoors at an early age when he and his buddies would make daily after school Squirrel Safaris to the West Mountain in North Pownal. As normally the case, the pursuit for squirrels led to a quest for bigger game which as led Jody to travel all over the lower 48 states, Alaska, and most of Western Canada in pursuit of Whitetails, Mule Deer, Dall Sheep, and Mt. Goat. After graduating high school, Jody opened Tornabene’s Shell Station, on Rt. 7 in Pownal, VT. Soon after he began selling used vehicles. Through hard work and determination, Jody was able to secure a franchise to sell GMC trucks in 1996. Since that time, he has repeatedly been one of the highest selling GMC dealers in his market group. Jody shares his home life with his wife Dawn and their 2 children, Joey and Isabella.
I got my start in the outdoors hunting whitetail deer with my father and brother in my home town of Connecticut. This led me into hunting every season since I have been introduced to the outdoors. I also learned my way around the lakes and ponds in a bass boat. As my interest turned to bigger game I began to travel throughout the New England states to hunt deer with my buddies all over the east coast eventually, my passion for hunting brought me to western states such as Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado. I have also hunted the western Canadian Province of Alberta many times in my travels and hunting adventures I have taken numerous big game animals and made many more friends around the campfire. Hunting, fishing and the outdoor lifestyle have come to define me!
Practicing Chiropractor since 1981 in Statesville, North Carolina, coming from N.J. in the suburbs of NYC where concrete was the norm and grass was limited, I didn’t get to pursue my love for the outdoors until 1987 with a Montana deer hunt. Since that time I have embarked upon at least one major hunt each year and have successfully taken 36 Big Game species from across the world. I have trophies of black bear and moose from British Columbia and the Northwest Territories; Caribou from northern Quebec; 13 animals from Zimbabwe, Africa that include leopard, sable, kudo, zebra, giraffe, warthog, wildebeest, impala, servile. My true passion, however, has been whitetail deer over the past 15 years where I have taken four Montana whitetails in the 150 class; 5 giant Alberta whitetails ranging from a BC score of 155-183”; 5 giant Saskatchewan whitetails in the 163-173” class. I have also taken 3 Southwest Texas mule deer, havelina; coyotes and a South Carolina turkey.
Owner of The Law Offices of Nathan T. Ewing and also currently serving as Lead Corporate Counsel for Suckerpunch Entertainment, a premiere sports marketing and athlete management company.
I was raised in Sheridan, Illinois a small farming community about 65 miles southwest of Chicago where hunting and fishing are a way of life. I shot a bow for the first time at age 14 and started bow hunting at age 16. If it is legal to shoot with a bow, I have done it or I want to do it. Prior to joining Team Drop Zone, I served as a pro staff member for a large archery company for 5 consecutive years. I had the opportunity to meet “Zippy” at a race in Chicago where he and I started talking hunting and as a result a friendship was forged. When asked to join Team Drop Zone Pro Staff I was not only elated but humbled by the opportunity.
